Liz is a Lake County native and second and third generation American and is part of a proud family of steel mill workers and tradesmen. Born to Ruth and Chris Mauch, Liz grew up in Munster, IN in a very special subdivision known as Independence Park. Liz’s family expanded in 1995 and a formerly only child became the youngest of three. A 1998 graduate of Munster High School, Liz attended Purdue University and Davenport University.

Liz became a Mom to Orion in 2002 and moved to Michigan City in 2003 to work as a Correctional Officer at Indiana State Prison until 2009. Liz was also a member of the Situational Control Team as a Department of Corrections Hostage Negotiator for two years.

Liz married Dion Bergeron in 2010 and became a step Mom to Arien, Ember, Donovan, and Trevor. In 2013, Liz graduated with her Bachelor of Science in Health Care Administration and Long Term Care and is working toward her Masters in Public Health.

Liz has worked in the insurance industry as a Workers’ Compensation Adjuster for numerous Fortune 500 companies such as Chick-fil-A, Bridgestone/Firestone, Advance Auto Parts, and Major League Baseball. Liz has worked in the IT industry as a contractor for Apple while leading teams to develop and improve the interface for Apple Maps.

Liz’s passion and career lies in the home health care industry/social work field and Liz currently works as a Case Manager for individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities. Liz works with individuals and families to help others achieve personal success and reach full independence and also serve as a liaison for families. Liz is also a volunteer with the La Porte County Special Olympics Pickleball team.

In her free time, Liz enjoys cooking, baking, video games, listening to music, studying ancient apothecaries and medicine, neurobiology, and spending time with her family, which includes 1 dog and 3 cats. Liz is a proud Aunt to four nieces and three nephews, and numerous second kids.
